Bahá'ís believe the Bahá'í
Faith represents the culmination of the lofty teachings
of the great religions of the past. The Faith, through
a comprehensive set of principles, provides the guidance
necessary for humanity to bring about its glorious destiny.
Its belief in one Supreme Creator of one race of spiritual
human beings is the driving force that is destined to
usher in the universally-promised Kingdom of God on
earth.
The world is already witnessing the dawn of a new age.
All the instruments for the unity of the globe are in
various stages of operation. International communication,
commerce and travel have become commonplace. Science
and technology are also propelling the previously separated
communities to a common ground.
Humanity
is feeling a great interdependence emotionally. A disaster
on one part of the
globe evokes the sympathy and help of people on the
other side of the planet. We feel both the pains and
the joys of our fellow human beings. We all care for
the environment -- our common earthly home -- the very
source of life for us. We feel an affinity and a responsibility
toward all life forms. There is so much that binds us
all together, to our shared God and His creation.
What
we need now is to fully recognize our lofty destiny,
our spiritual reality, and to combine our efforts toward
the good of all. The Bahá'ís live in a
spiritual community that is characterized by unity in
diversity.
Considering
themselves to be world citizens and working to carry
on an ever-advancing civilization, the Bahá'ís
believe that the future is immeasurably bright, and
that the world civilization that will emerge based on
Bahá'u'lláh's teachings is the Kingdom
referred to in the Lord's Prayer, "Thy Kingdom
come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven."
