Antelope
Valley, CA, May 28, 2002-The
Bahá’í communities of Antelope Valley
will observe Race Unity Day on in Sunday June 9th, 2002
with a devotional meeting at the Palmdale City Youth Library
(38510 N. Sierra Highway) at 2:00 p.m. People of every race,
culture, religion and nationality are welcome to join in
a celebration of the unity of humankind.
Race
Unity Day is sponsored each year by the Bahá’ís
of the United States. Bahá’ís believe
that racial prejudice is the most challenging issue facing
our nation, and that America can only achieve its high destiny
through the unification of its rich and diverse elements.
The
Bahá’í Faith is an independent world
religion with adherents in virtually every country. More
than 2000 ethnic groups and tribes are represented in Bahá’í
membership. There are about 5 million Bahá’ís
worldwide and approximately 142,000 in the United States.
